Dr. Richey was born in Los Angeles, California and moved to the Panama Canal Zone at age two, where his parents worked for the United States Federal Government.  He attended grade school and high school  in Balboa, Canal Zone.  After graduating from high school in 1975, he attended Washington and Jefferson College in Washington, Pennsylvania, and graduated with a Bachelor's degree, majoring in biology.  In 1983, he received his Doctor of Medicine degree from Marshall Univeristy School of Medicine in Huntington, West Virginia.  After completing a three-year residency in internal medicine at the Univeristy of South Florida in Tampa, and becoming board certified in internal medicine, he continued with his education at the University of South Florida to complete a three-year dermatology residency, and a one-year fellowship at the University of South Florida Department of Dermatology and Cutaneous Surgery.  His dermatology residency was completed in 1990 and he became board certified in December of that year. 

Dr. Richey has been in practice in Venice, Florida since May 1990 and enjoys all facets of his dermatology practice, with a special interest in the treatment of skin cancer and melanoma.  Dr. Richey is very appreciative of the opportunity to care for the members of the Venice community.
